Real-Time Fracture Add-on User Guide
Access: The Real-Time Fracture add-on can be found under Blender's N Panel.
Usage Steps
1. Object Selection
- Select a mesh or a curve object with volume.
- Press the Start Fracture button to fracture the selected objects.
- You can perform bulk fracturing by selecting multiple objects at once.
2. Working on Existing Fractures
To edit a previously fractured object, select the relevant object from the Fractured Object list.
3. Boolean Type Selection
- Blender Default Boolean: Fast but may produce errors with complex objects.
- Remesh Boolean: Slower but provides more stable results for complex objects.
4. Scatter Points Settings
- Uniform Scatter Points: Provides an even distribution within the bounding box.
- Axis-Based Scatter Points: Distributes points based on X, Y, Z axes.
- Radial Scatter Points: Creates circular layers radiating outward from the center.
-
Manual Scatter Points: Places points based on an external selected object.
- For manual distribution with multiple objects, select the Collection type.
- The surface or volume of the selected object can be used to generate points. Enable the Use Volume option to create a volume-based distribution.
5. Cell Settings
- Cell Relax: Smooths the Voronoi distribution.
- Cell Margin: Adjusts the spacing between fragments.
- Cell Noise: Increases irregularity in point placement for a more natural appearance.
6. Subdiv & Displacement Settings
Adds high resolution and detail to fractured objects.
- Enhances the detail of inner and edge surfaces.
- When increasing values, adjust by increments of 1 unit or enter a specific value and press Enter. Dragging with the mouse may cause excessive computational load.
7. Rigid Body Dynamics (RBD) Settings
- Customize physics settings such as Deactivation, Activator object selection, Mass multiplier, Friction, and Bounciness.
- The Activator object should be either a passive or active RBD object.
- You can activate fragments by animating the activator object or enable automatic activation through RBD physics.
- Multiple activator objects can be selected for a fracture group.
- Use the Picker tool to add multiple activator objects and adjust the effect range using the threshold setting. Calculations will be performed automatically.
8. Clusters & Constraints
- Add Clusters to a fracture group to create Constraints between fragments.
- You can edit physics settings for the generated Clusters by selecting them.
- Each Fracture group, Clusters, and Constraints are stored in separate Collections, which can be manually selected and edited.
